Five Pillars of Islam

Five Pillars of Islam

The five basic pillars of the Islam are the basic rules in Islam
that every should follow.There practice are very essential for every Muslim.

Here they are with there Arabic names:

1.Shahada(Faith):

Declaration of Faith: The shahadah means there is no god but Allah and Muhammad is the messenger of Allah.

A statement proclaiming the belief in One God and that Muhammad(P.B.U.H) is a prophet of Allah. To become Muslim a person simply recites this statement publicly, and in Arabic.
This is the keystone of Islamic belief, and it is sometimes said that the earnest profession of this spiritual commitment is enough to make one a Muslim. However, unless one follows the other four pillars especially the daily prayers, one may be considered to have forsaken Islam.

2.Salah(Prayer):

Salah is the practice of prayer in Islam. It is one of the five most important duties for Muslims. To perform Salah, a person's mind must be in a state of ritual purity, which comes from ritual ablution(wudu).
Praying five times a day, kneeling towards Makkah.
The five-times daily prayer. Performed just before dawn, just after noon, in midafternoon, just after sunset, and after nightfall.

3.Zakat(Charity):

Zakat is one of the five pillars of Islam.
The word zakat can be defined as "purification and growth" because it allows an individual to achieve balance and encourages new growth.
Giving zakat means ‘giving a specified percentage(2.5%) on certain properties to certain classes of needy people.’  The percentage which is due on gold, silver, and cash funds that have reached the amount of about 85 grams of gold and held in possession for one lunar year is two and a half percent(2.5%).
The principle of knowing that all things belong to one and only Allah is essential for the purification and growth.
Zakat is obligatory for all Muslims who are able to do so. It is the personal responsibility of each Muslim to help other Muslims in hard time and to eliminate inequality.
The zakat is spent to help needy members of the Muslim community, for debtors and travelers, and to win converts to Islam.

4.Sawm(Fasting):

Every year in the month of Ramadan,for all Muslims fast from sunrise until sunset, abstaining from food, drink, and sexual relations.
The fast from before sunrise to sunset each day for the full lunar month of Ramadan, the ninth month of the Muslim calendar. Ramadan may last 29 or 30 days depending on the cycle of the moon, and shifts earlier each year by eleven days, so that over 33 years it traverses all the different seasons.

5.Hajj(Pilgrimage to Makkah):

The annual pilgrimage (Hajj) to Makkah is an obligation once in a lifetime for those who are physically and financially able to perform it.
Hajj is performed in the Dhu al-Hijjah(twelfth month of the Islamic calendar).
Male pilgrims wear special simple clothes which strip away distinctions of class and culture so that all stand equal before God.
The Hajj is the largest annual gathering of people and Muslims in the world.
